A quick trip up to Bury, Bolton & Liverpool

Since out of the blue I have been invited to an interesting meeting in Holland, I checked my passport only to find it ran out in April, so I decided I needed a new passport soon and so after checking things out on the internet I made a booking to visit the passport office in Liverpool for 2p.m. to arrange to get one pretty quickly.

Beforehand however I made a few calls in the Bury and Bolton area. I kicked off the day dropping off a few books at a shop in Bury, before I popped around to see Nigel and Theresa at La Maison, one of the most upmarket parlours in the entire country.

They have joined a cartel about eight parlours who have subscribed to a code of practice promulgated by a quasi government operation called Redline. Nigel is hoping this can lead to the eventual raising of these parlours to a situation where they will be less at risk of being bothered unduly by the authorities and since Redline is obviously some sort of off shoot of the police, he may well be on to something. We can only wait and see.

From here I went a visited a new private house that has opened in the Astley Bridge area of Bolton. Butterflies is run by a lady who knew me from her time as a working lady in Preston and just has one lady on per day, the one on this day being a delightfully attractive young lady by the name of Zara. The boss, Paula and I had an interesting chat about her plans and then I headed off to Liverpool to sort out my passport.

I have luckily never had to suffer the indignity of visiting a job centre, but visiting this passport office must be the nearest approximation to such that I am likely to experience. Everyone visiting had to have their possessions checked for weapons etc, as if one was going on an airline trip and then one was given a number and had to wait until one was called. My interview was cursory to say the least and I was in and out of the place in less than 30 minutes, thereby keeping my parking costs down, but a lot of other people were taking rather longer than I did. Interesting to see what we pay our taxes for, but given the time wasted in visiting the city which has nothing much to offer in the way of adult services currently, it was not an experience I would wish to repeat. And with nothing else lined up for the day, I headed home and did an hour in the office, before calling it a day.
