An interesting and productive day in Greater Manchester
Having done plenty of ringing around upfront, I was ready for an interesting day in Greater Manchester and so it transpired.
I started off by visiting Miss Lisa, a CP specialist based in the Wigan area. She operates form a council house, where she lives with her partner and four year old son and is a very enterprising lady, boasting an impressive website, incorporating a discussion forum, where my latest corrective guidebook, had been extensively discussed, after she came across a copy, in which of course, she was listed. We had a good long chat about her activities, with her son slightly getting in the way, but he will soon be at school and no longer creating mayhem. How good you will feel after a CP session with Miss Lisa is, of course, another matter. From here I headed down the M6 on to the East Lancs Rd. and over to Radcliffe, where I visited Gemini, one of Greater Manchester's oldest parlours.
As I arrived I found myself being greeted by Irene, who was running the parlour with her friend and colleague Sandra, the last time I had visited it. Sandra is still around, but it is now owned by a new proprietor, who is the gentleman I will have ultimately to deal with. Nevertheless, Irene was impressed by the new website and I will make sure I revisit this parlour, the next time I am in Manchester. On leaving I rang Anne at the Georgian and she told me she was there and looking forward to seeing me. On getting over there I discovered not just Anne, but Barry, her husband and partner in the business as well. It had a been a while since I had seen Barry and we had a long and very enjoyable chat. Currently Oldham is slowly but surely grinding to a halt, with businesses relentlessly closing down, because few people are bothering to venture into the town centre, with the council taking what seems like forever to install a tram system. In the middle of a recession, one simply begins to wonder. I concluded my business with Anne successfully and headed on to my next call.
My next call was on New Scarletts, an interesting parlour located in Prestwich near Heaton Park. They were keeping busy enough, but like so many parlours, were not doing as well as they had pre the recession. We had an amiable and successful chat and then I was on my way to my next call.

My next call was on Thai Sanook Spa, an upmarket Thai parlour located just off the bottom end of Cheetham Hill Rd., only a stone's throw from the M.E.N. arena. It turned out to be run by an old friend of mine, Pimon, whom I had previously come across, when she ran Thai Paradise in Blackpool. We had a very friendly chat, but I was unable to convince her advertising with me would be worthwhile.
From here, I headed off down Great Ancoats St., looking for another new parlour, Passions. Although its address is in Great Ancoats St., the entrance to the parlour, which is on the first floor of the building it occupies, is in a street off Great Ancoats St., which is an integral part of the inner ring road, and this is almost as much of a traffic blocked road as Union St. in Oldham. The ladies were all busy here and the lady I needed to see, the proprietor was not around, but I left the receptionist one of my last books and my card and hopefully we will make contact before too long.

I now headed out of the centre of Manchester towards Chorlton-cum-Hardy and two parlours, located only yards apart on Barlow Moor Rd. The first parlour I called on was High Society Girls, formerly known as Ruby Milans. I went in and found out when the boss, a lady who also runs, Bolton Babes, in Bolton, would be around. I was then confronted by a very attractive young lady, working at the parlour, by the name of Maxine. She was interested in ascertaining whom I was. Was I George McCoy? I answered yes and she then proceeded to tell me how in the various parlours she had worked at in her time, including Swansea's Studio 95, my guidebook was almost always being referred to by working ladies. Somehow, she had had one of my domination mugs and had broken it, so I took pity on her and gave her a replacement. I would have enjoyed a session with her, but she was not prepared to be quite as charitable as myself. Oh, well, you win some, you lose some.

I now headed down the road to the Retreat, the former Director's Lodge. I had been invited to call in by the lady who runs it, but she runs it on behalf of the gentleman, who owns the parlour and while we had a constructive chat, I will have to wait until I return to Manchester in a couple of weeks, before I learn if the parlour wishes to advertise with me.

I rang a couple of possible calls in the city, without success and then headed off to Levenshulme and my last two calls of the day. The first was on Jackie's. a longstanding parlour, whose main distinguishing feature is that the ladies here are as versatile as one could possibly imagine. I had a pleasant chat with the receptionist and it was agreed she would discuss my proposal with the people in charge and I would call back in a couple of weeks.
I now headed off to my last call of the day on Bee's Babes, a parlour with a reasonable website, but one that is only open four days each week. The lady working there greeted me in a very different way from Maxine at High Society, even doubting that I was whom I said I was, but after a long chat, she warmed to me and I left, at least convinced that she realised I was whom I said I was. Bee, the boss was not around, but I will try them again the next time I am in Manchester. I just will not make it a Thursday.
And with that I headed home, getting back in good time.
