Stoke-on-Trent - a city in fear
Headed off to Stoke-on-Trent this morning around 11a.m. and found most parlours either shut or about to be shut down or fearful of saying much. I talked to the people running Tingles, who were very concerned about the future and what has happened is that apparently every landlord of a parlour in the city has been approached by Goddard of the city's vice squad and have been threatened with being charged with letting a premises for immoral purposes and consequently having all their assets frozen unless they give notice to the parlour business owners to close down within 28 days. Given that when I met Goddard only a year or so ago, and all he was concerned with was any trafficking into the city, where nearly all the working girls in the parlours are local and he even told me he only had concerns with two or three establishments out of twenty odd, one is bound to wonder who is behind this. I suspect this is Harriet Harman & co up to mischief again. I eventually decided to abort my trip and head home.
Talked to BBC Radio Stoke and some of my local parlour contacts re what has been happening and now I hope to spread the word of the hypocrisy of this government, sending round the hidden economy taskforce to parlours to get tax out of them and to get the ladies off social security on the one hand and engineering the parlours' closure using more public servants and leading to the ladies getting back on social security on the other. And we have to pay for it all this farce. And then the police will have to pick up the pieces when more girls end up on the street and what if a Staffordshire Strangler emerges?
