Yet another day in Greater Manchester

I had spent a bit of time ringing around individual working ladies and agencies that had advertised in Loot based in and around Manchester and had potentially lined up a lot of calls for this day, but as usual a number could not see me, I even had a text from one agency calling things off on my way up the M6 to Manchester.

However the day started pretty reasonably with a successful call on Louise or Lady Louise of Leigh as she calls herself. She operates from a pretty luxurious flat with free parking right in centre of the town and the free parking was much to be appreciated with traffic wardens hovering around the area.

She soon made it clear she was keen to impress me with her skills and I was indeed very impressed, what she does not know how to do with her mouth is not worth knowing. Having discussed how we could cooperate in future I then headed off to a call I had not had down on my original list on Leigh's lone remaining parlour, Suzanne's in Chapel St.

This parlour has always been pretty basic, it operates from an old property with no central heating, but has always had very friendly management, though the Suzanne I had known from my last visit had apparently done a bunk a year or so ago, after a visit from the hidden economy taskforce, as ever keen to get their grubby hands on her hard earned money yet not that keen to extend any reasonable rights in law to parlour owners, because of the hypocrisy of those who rule us. The new boss was around and turned out to be someone who was a great friend of a mutual acquaintance, Jane of Red in Southport. We had a very friendly chat and I then headed into Manchester itself.

I stopped off at Tesco in Prestwich which is very close to Jn.17 of the M60 and near which were two individual ladies and an agency set up that I planned on seeing. Neither Daniella or Sarah were however available and while I managed to get in touch with Melissa of the Melissa Jones Agency, formerly based in Salford, but now operating from a new upmarket flat in Prestwich, she would not be available for an hour or so.

I now tried to contact Debbie of Northside Escorts, based in Castleton near Rochdale, but she had expected me to ring before noon and was now on the road. If there is one thing one can be sure of with the ladies who work in this industry it is that a lot will let you down. Though in all fairness to them, they have to make a living and in these recession hit times, they cannot afford to turn down business just to see me.

So instead I thought I would pop down to Crumpsall and check out Christina's Apartment, an apparently stop gap operation replacing Christina's Palace of Radcliffe, while the premises there are being thoroughly overhauled.

They occupy the flat under the one previously occupied by the Penthouse, a long running private flat that closed down about a year back, I imagine when the hidden economy taskforce was doing its rounds. Apparently a lot of the city's parlours, mainly the poor ones, suddenly closed down then. I had a pleasant chat with the receptionist and was shown around and now I headed back to Prestwich and Melissa Jones.

Melissa's flat is not the easiest to find, but luck was on my side, though since it is on the fifth floor of its block and I did not know this on entering the block, I climbed all five floors. At least I used the lift on the way down. At Melissa's flat I was introduced to Melissa's webmaster, who had done the Toucan Club's first website and he and Melissa reminded me Vivien, from that now regrettably closed institution, was talking about opening an agency now. I must get in touch with her. After successfully concluding my business with Melissa, she indicated I should come around some time and check out whichever lady took my fancy. I thanked her for the offer and indicated I would look forward to that.

I now headed off to see Cheryl of Irlam, another new independent lady and we had a very pleasant chat while I worked out what I could say about her. It was then back to Prestwich in the hope that either Sarah or Danielle could see me. Initially I had no joy, so I thought I would try out one of the local parlours I had not visited for a while, Scarlett's, a very luxurious parlour, which also boasts a dungeon and a schoolroom, and which is discreetly located just off Bury Old Road, not far from the Heaton Park Metrolink station. There I found, besides the lady running the show, Celeste, a lady I had met and photographed several years in Barrow-in-Furness of all places.

We had a very friendly and productive chat and then I headed back to Tesco to try the two Prestwich indies one last time. I had talked to Sarah earlier, but she was obviously busy now, however I did get through to Daniella, who to my surprise, had already become aware of my visit to Louise in Leigh, no doubt via some website discussion area. She was also keen to show me how well she could perform. Apparently Manchester is the Queen's least favourite city in the United Kingdom. I cannot say I share her taste.

The rest of the day turned out to be rather disappointing. I checked out two parlours that had apparently closed and when I indicated I would have liked to meet up with two parlour owners in South Manchester, neither were around, although it had been indicated to me that one would have been. And then it went from bad to worse, with me sitting around waiting for two ladies who jointly run an agency based in Macclesfield to turn up. And after sitting around in my car for over an hour waiting for them, I finally gave up and headed home. Cheshire Set might have a website, but it is hardly well developed and if all the management can do when I suggest meeting them is to leave their phonelines connected to answerphones for hours on end, I wonder why they bother to spend money on advertising in Loot, where rather appropriately, they could not even get the website address down correctly, listing it as .com rather than .co.uk.
