I kicked off the day by visiting Cupid's, probably Manchester's top swinging or as they alternatively call them mixed adult sauna clubs. They have a lady available available here for massage most days and the facilities for swinging are excellent and I have always got on well with the management, but it had been a while since we had met up and so since I was hoping to get them interested in stocking my books again, I thought a meeting might be advantageous.

We had just been discussing how Glen felt it was hardly worth bothering with coming up with massage every day and it had been agreed I should leave them some books and maps, but just then my mobile rang. It was Jane from Louisa's, the next parlour I was planning on visiting and she was about to head off back home. If I could make it around there immediately she could see me. Glen and I had pretty well said everything of importance that we needed to say, so off I went.

Louisa's used to be known as Kellie's and it turned out the name change from Kellie's was a result of the hassle they and so many other parlours in this country have had from HM Revenue and Customs. We had a successful chat and then I headed off for my next call.

This was on Salon 24, a parlour with so far as parlours are concerned a pretty well equipped dungeon. Also I had been led to believe my old friend Barbara was here and she greeted me at the door in as friendly a manner as I could have expected. Like Louisa's she told me she had been reasonably busy and that the recession had not yet bitten and so she was feeling pretty upbeat. It is a board of directors who take the key decisions here and so whether or not they will go ahead with my business proposition is up in the air, but Barbara thought in a month or two they might well go for it.

I now met up with a local distributor of adult product to sex shops throughout the North West and gave him a quantity of my new escort agency guide, before popping into two shops in the city centre. Finally in the city centre, I visited the first of two new parlours that had opened within the past year.

Bentleys is located in a small side street only a short walk from the last sex shop I had to visit. On entry I was greeted by the receptionist who had met me before at a now closed parlour in St. Helens, which had been run by a couple whom I got on famously with, so famously they helped me out with some filming for a documentary for the cheeky satellite channel Men and Motors. And surprise, surprise, it is they who run this new parlour in Manchester city centre. And although I had met none of the ladies there before, one recognised me from the BBC 1 documentary I was in - "Street of Vice", that went out in 2006.

The lady in the partnership only pops in occasionally, since she also runs another business, but the man calls in regularly, so I hope to see him in the not too distant future. For a city centre parlour it is both luxurious and spacious and the girls look pretty good too.

I now headed off to my last call of the day on the other new parlour, Pussycats, which is located in one of the more upmarket corners of the city, Withington Village.

Again I was recognised by the receptionist, who had seen me before a few years ago at two of the city's other parlours, at both of which she had also worked as a receptionist. The proprietress does a regular stint as receptionist every Monday, so it was agreed I should call in and see her then. And having been shown around a very tastefully decorated establishment, I headed back to my car and on to the road and home.
